Safety Resources

The mission of the New York State Brewers Association Safety Committee is to promote and develop safety awareness for all owners and employees of breweries. Through a collective effort of education and hands-on training with our partners, we hope that all NYS breweries operate in a safety-forward manner.

The NYSBA Safety Committee is committed to providing NYS breweries with resources and educational material. In 2022, the NYSBA joined an alliance with the BA, MBAA, the NYS Department of Labor, and OSHA to work together on training and education for our brewing community. By participating in the alliance, you the brewery will have access to:

• Through worker participation, develop effective training and education programs for the brewing industry to promote understanding of workers’ rights, including the use of the OSHA complaint process, the safety and health responsibilities of employers and to communicate such information to workers and employers.

• Develop effective training and education programs for the brewing industry regarding common safety and health hazards associated with breweries and general information about OSHA regulations, policies, and compliance assistance resources, and to communicate such information to constituent employers and workers.

• Deliver or arrange for the delivery of courses to OSHA compliance and consultation staff pertaining to brewery operations and equipment.

Through this program alliance, you can have an NYS Dept. of Labor Consultation Representative identify hazards, offer solutions, and provide assistance to correct these hazards; visit your brewery to inspect that will ensure your brewery complies but also ensure you and your employees stay safe. 

All visits through this program are free, confidential, and not reported to OSHA, and no penalties will be accessed!
