Objective: Create a board that is effective, elective & inclusive.
Effective: While we don’t want to see “grandstanders” or “self-promoters”, we do need a plurality of skill sets, connections & experience in order to realize the NYSBA’s mission.
Elective: The board composition should be member-driven; process should be largely bottom-up & transparent.
Inclusive: Seek to have a board that’s representative (factors: size, location, packaging/pub) and includes a committee structure that can include general membership in order to build a two-way culture between the board and the membership at large.
