Devon Hoffman is a Digital Marketing Specialist for Site-Seeker. When he's not using his computer to find and visit every brewery in New York State, he is using it to help business partners achieve their digital marketing goals. These goals may include location marketing and optimization, digital advertising, search engine optimization or anything in between. Then he's looking for the breweries again.

You’ve spent years perfecting your beers and ciders. You know as well as anyone: good beer shouldn’t be wasted!

If you aren’t claiming and maintaining your Google My Business page, you’re pretty much dumping your beer down the drain, along with potential profits.

Like it or not, not everyone in your area knows about your brewery. There will always be people searching for breweries, and whether they’re tourists passing through the area, craft brewery enthusiasts looking for a new option, live music aficionados, or party planners looking for event space, you want them to come through your doors. If your business isn’t coming up in their search results, you’re missing out on potential business. That’s where Google My Business comes into play. Let’s do a search for “breweries in Durham, North Carolina.”

Want to ensure your business comes up in that map? You better have your Google My Business page filled out. When people search for your brewery name, what comes up? Marble Brewery in Albuquerque, New Mexico did a good job linking their website and updating their contact information, and they have more than 600 Google reviews, which gives your business clout with Google.

Google My Business Features for Breweries
Okay, so now you know that Google My Business is an easy, free tool that can help new and returning users find or visit your business. What you may not know is that there are other cool features perfect for breweries, ensuring that current and potential customers who find you on Google My Business feel taken care of before they even walk in the door.
Contact Information
Up-to-date contact information is what most of your searchers will be looking for, so update it often! Include a phone number, hours of operation (updated for holidays and other events), and a link to your website, at a minimum.
Photos/Videos
People want to know what they’re going to experience before they experience it. Don’t be afraid to show off your tasting room or promote your awesome employees and tasty food and drinks!
Customer Reviews
Did you know people are more likely to trust online reviews than their own family and friends? That’s why it’s so important to generate online reviews. Encourage guests to leave reviews using email marketing after their visit or incentivize them with a free beer or cider for leaving a review.
Upcoming Events
Events, like themed parties, live entertainment, and special tastings, can be a great way to drive new and returning customers to your brewery. Publishing upcoming events to your Google My Business page is a great way to capture new guests as they search for fun things to do locally.
Posts
A fairly new feature on Google My Business, Posts are broken down into a few categories. You can post all of your products (with or without pricing), special offers, blog posts and much more. Update the posts frequently and give customers an inside look at your business.
