Paul Leone is the Executive Director of the New York State Brewers Association.

Last week the NYSBA lobbied in Washington DC and discussed the following topics:

  • Federal Excise Tax Relief
  • Full funding for the TTB
  • ABInBev Merger
  • NYS brewing industry

The meetings went well for us in NYS and we continue to find terrific support form our Senate and House leaders on both sides of the aisle. I urge you all to read an op-ed Bob Pease Wrote for the NY Times and pass it on, it’s worth the reminder what this meger will mean to the craft beer industry.

Federal Excise tax relief has about a 50/50 shot this year of going through, only if it can be attached to another bill. As you know, with an election year, things move very slow or not at all. Regardless, there is strong support for our industry, and the BA will continue to push hard to make this happen.
